Why is my first appointment a long consultation of 30 minutes?
Your first visit allows the doctor time to understand your medical history and health needs. As OPMC does not yet have your medical records, a longer appointment is necessary to support safe, informed, and appropriate care.
What happens during a new patient consultation?
The doctor uses this time to understand your health needs and build your medical history. What happens during the appointment will depend on your situation and the doctor’s clinical judgement.
Will future appointments be shorter?
Yes. Once the doctor understands your medical history, future appointments may be shorter or longer, depending on your health needs and the reason for your visit.
